Working mothers are often blessed with long days, short nights and wonderful, little cuddly (and sometimes naughty), people called children. So what do you do when y

You are feeling fit, skilled and you have perfectly managed your own leisure and children time. There is a higher level position available and you want to move on up? Depending on your work schedule this may or may not be an easy transition to make.

Getting a promotion or shifting to the next level of work (this could be moving from part to full time) can take a lot more hours from your day. The first thing that you need to do is a little bit of groundwork and research.

Talk to your boss, people working at this next level or people working full time. Get the truth out of them and find out how many actual extra hours, over time and weekend work you will have to put in.

Once you have completed your research look at your own life. You need to consider where your family is placed. Can your partner, relative or friends pick up the extra slack for you? If your children are moving to school or out of school it might be the perfect time for you to add to your workload without the transition being fraught with extra demands on your time.

Once you have considered the necessary time constraints, stress levels, responsibility and related this to your own personal circumstances and informed choice can then be reached. Then all you have to do is put on your black suit and break through that ceiling!
