You work the whole year and then the silly season begins. There is talk of people taking holidays and organising fantastic festivities but alas you don’t get any time off over the season, or this is the season when your work truly begins. So what do you do? Whinging and moaning is one option, but probably not the most productive. You’re a working mother, you know how to prioritise your life and make time work for you (I hear laughter from the gallery). Now is the season to make sure you don’t burn out or spend what spare days you have running around shopping or running around on Christmas day seeing every single family member and friend that you have.
Now this is going to get a bit crafty:
You will need:
Now using the marker, in the centre of the big piece of paper you need to write ‘SILLY SEASON’. Draw a big circle around it. Then draw three lines coming out of this centre and at the end of each line put one of the following Parties, People, Purchases. Then you need to group your list of things into these categories. Then start to link these together using the dates and locations of each thing that you need to do. This will help you to create mind map of everything you need to do.
Once you have linked your events together then you need to work out how long you will need for each group of things. Then take your calendar and look at how many spare days and nights you have. Try and take a day and/or a night away from this number. This will be your do nothing time. Then add your grouped categories to a calendar. Use the highlighters to differentiate between events and locations. So a green day might be your purchase day. A blue day might be your people and party day. Creating a mind map also helps you to prioritise your workload and see if you actually have enough time to fit everything in, in your spare time.
